Carbon Dioxide (CO2)A cheap and efficient way of covering particular risks. Operates by reducing the oxygen content to a level that cannot sustain fire. Carbon Dioxide is an asphyxiant at the concentrations required to extinguish fires, and should be regarded as a toxic substance. Because of this Carbon Dioxide total room flooding systems should not be fully automated in occupied areas. Applications FM-200 - Chemical based Halon replacement.Stored in liquid form and pressurised to 25 bar by dry nitrogen. When discharged, FM-200 expands at the nozzle and returns to a gaseous condition. FM-200 requires a concentration of at least 7% of the risk area volume. It is a colourless, odourless gas which is electrically non-conductive. It is suitable for use on class A & B fires, has zero ozone depletion and leaves no residue after discharge. Applications
